Weird Artist Habits #1-5

1. Showing up at galleries.  There is a gang of Atlanta artists at every opening and art-related event. Same faces appear like a rotating cast of characters, different episodes.

2. Picking up trash. They can swipe paper from the floor with a special panache. Trust me, it’s not about the environment. They want to add that paper to their collection.

3. Appearing at garage sales and thrift stores. They may have specific items they are looking for, doll heads, used frames, plaid cloth; or they are just browsing and grazing.

 4. Wants to go the art supply store to graze and browse like a cow.  Me, I case a place first.  Get a mental picture of where the markers and paper are, get a the prices, and return about a week later to make a swift purchase.  Honestly, I can get lost in an art store, reviewing the same aisle one, two, three times. It’s like being dropped off at the amusement park as a teenager.  Just go in and re-emerge hours later - refreshed and excitingly gabbing about a fan brush souvenir.

5.  Knows what gesso, stretcher bars, and gel medium is used for.  These items have absolutely no relevance outside of the art world.
